Australia welcomed with relief the announcement by telecommunications company Telstra about the… development of a new remote device monitoring service.

This technology may be characterized as a kind of "big brother", but it is aimed at parents, who will now be able to control their children's mobile phone use.

Thanks to this new technology, available through the “Mobile Protect” web portal, millions of Australian parents will be able to control their children's devices from their computer, blocking unwanted calls and the distribution of dangerous material and regulating the hours they spend on this activity.

According to data from the telecommunications giant, more than 68% of Australian teenagers own a "smart" mobile phone, spending more than three hours a day on it, while in some cases use begins at the age of three, as reported by the Athens News Agency.

This development has significantly increased parental concern. It is noted that three out of four parents are anxious about the content their children have access to and the dangers that lurk within social networking sites.

For their part, child psychologists emphasize that it is very important for parents to set limits for children on their use of technology, but at the same time they point out that children who are excluded from using social networks are negatively affected, showing signs of a worse psychological state, compared to those who have an online presence.
