Robotics technology seminar for students - Thessaloniki

Students aged 9 to 16 will attend seminara robotics next Sunday at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall (SHC). The event is titled "Experts' Seminar for FLL "world class", Ambassador's Event & Kick off Event", organized by the Department of Philosophy and Pedagogy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Non-Profit Charitable Association "eduACT - Action for Education" and the American Consulate in Thessaloniki.

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL), a program of Educational Innovation, Research, Technology and Robotics for children aged 9-16, is a global event that was started by the educational division of Lego, in collaboration with the First Foundation in 1992. It is organized every year on a global scale and in a network of 80 countries. In 2013, Greece was added to the network through the educational non-profit association eduACT. At Sunday's event, in Thessaloniki, experts from all over Greece will present to the children who will take part in the FLL 2015 grand final their proposals for a modern way of learning, giving them the impetus to think. As part of the event, the deputy rector for Research and Coordination of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor Theodoros Laopoulos, will award an honorary plaque to the PhD student of the Department of Informatics and the Department of Philosophy and Pedagogy, Theodosis Sapounidis, for the international distinctions he received in 2014, with the proposal "Cubes Coding".

“Cubes Coding” is a robot programming for children aged 3 and above, using natural objects and will soon become an international patent of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The proposal was distinguished in the International Competition “Open Education Challenge” held in Spain, from 13-15 July 2014, on the theme “Innovation in education”. 611 proposals from 77 countries participated. 9 proposals were awarded, among which was “Cubes Coding”.
