Technology product scams are always on the rise

Scam

Generally speaking, phone scams occur before and immediately after a device's release, but both the iPhone 6 and especially the Samsung Galaxy S4 are anything but new devices. Despite this, scammers continue to use them as bait for unsuspecting internet users .

Jovi Umawing of Malwarebytes discovered a scam survey on LinkedIn that promised an iPhone 6 as the grand prize and the user followed the instructions until a promotion page for the Samsung S4 appeared.

The LinkedIn post that linked to the scam was posted by a user named Kolko Kolko. The fact that the user's image is actually of actor Brad Pitt should make some people think twice before clicking on any of the links promoted through this profile.

Umawing clicked the shortened links, but discovered that they led to a page with multiple surveys for the user to complete. It appears that the victim, in order to have the ability to bypass the current offer, must fill other pages with other surveys.

However, this can only be done up to a certain point, where a page promotes a new advertisement, with the prize being a Samsung S4. Of course, to win it the user must complete one more quick survey.

According to Umawing, the surveys appear depending on the user's location, but they all have the same purpose: to deceive users and thus put money in their pockets, those who are behind these scam activities.
