In Greece in 2014, 10.1% of Greek businesses do not use a computer and do not have access to the internet.
According to the results of a survey by the Hellenic Statistical Authority for 2014, out of a total of 23,098 businesses, 20,756 businesses used computers , i.e. 89.86%.
Of the 20,756 businesses that used a computer, 20,578 had access to the internet, or 89.09% of all businesses. Of these, 14,287 had their own website, or 61.85% of all businesses.
Of the 20,578 businesses that had access to the internet, in 2014, 20,022 used a DSL connection or another method of fixed broadband connection to the internet (e.g. ADSL, SDSL, VDSL, FTTH – fiber optic technology, cable technology, Wi-Fi, etc.).
For 2014, out of a total of 872,098 employees, 393,893 employees use a computer at work , i.e. 45.17%, while 323,864 employees have access to the internet (37.14%).
Of the 23,098 businesses that participated in the survey with a total turnover of 219.83 million euros, 2,132 responded that they received orders via a website (9.23%). The turnover from these orders was 3.50 million euros (1.59% of the total turnover). These percentages for 2013 were 9.12% and 1.21%, respectively.
Of the 23,098 businesses surveyed in 2014, 3,154 responded that they made purchases via a website, a percentage of 13.66%, while the corresponding percentage for 2013 was 18.14%.
