Data security remains a key concern for businesses, preventing them from adopting the Cloud more widely
Greece is slowly getting on board with the “cloud”, as currently only 8% of Greek businesses use Cloud Computing. This performance is the third worst in the European Union of 28 for the current year, with the average Cloud usage in Europe being 19%.
Our country, together with Bulgaria and Hungary, shares 26th place, with Latvia and Poland (with 6% Cloud usage each) in 27th place and Romania in last place with 5%. On the other hand, the highest percentage of Cloud usage by businesses is held by Finland, where more than one in two companies declare that they use it (51%). This is followed by Italy with 40%, Sweden with 39% and Denmark with 38%.
According to data for the current year published by Eurostat, in Greece the most frequent use of Cloud concerns e-mail services with a percentage of 67% (66% is the average in Europe), file storage with a percentage of 50% (53% is the EU average), database hosting with 36% and Office software services with 31%.
Eurostat data shows that for the vast majority of companies in the EU that do not use the Cloud, that is, 81%, the main deterrent is the lack of knowledge about the benefits of the Cloud.
