Phishing attack targets customers of major Japanese bank

Most phishing emails created by cybercriminals to steal bankingor online payment details are written in English. However, the phenomenon appears to be gaining momentum, as the number of attacks against users in non-English speaking countries continues to grow.

Below is a fake notification in Japanese that is supposedly sent from a major Japanese bank

The fake notification warns bank customers that there is a possible leak of their personal data. It also states that the bank's security system has been upgraded and in order to protect their personal data so that their account is not blocked, they should fill in their login details (username and password) by following a specific link.

The link redirects customers to a fake page that looks like the bank’s website. The only way they can recognize the scam is to locate the suspicious address in their browser. The login details they type into the fake website are sent directly to the scammers, who gain full access to the victims’ bank accounts.
