Cameron Lacroix, a hacker listed on Wikipedia , has apologized for posting private photos of celebrities online nine years ago. Among them were photos from Paris Hilton's phone. The hacker wanted to publicly apologize just before he began a four-year sentence in federal prison for stealing credit card numbers, falsifying grades at Bristol Community College and causing $200,000 worth of damage to Twitter.

According to NBC News, Lacroix, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, is now truly realizing the consequences of the personal information he posted. “Paris, I’m sorry I posted your photos online,” he said. “I should never have done it. I wish it had never happened.”.
By this age, Lacroix has been involved in many hacking activities, including credit and debit card theft, personal data, and Twitter account breaches. The Paris Hilton photo leak took place in 2005, when the hacker was a teenager. He managed to break into Paris Hilton's phone and leak personal contacts, emails, and nude photos of her online. The act was carried out through an attack on the website of T-Mobile, the carrier to which Paris Hilton was a subscriber. For this incident, Lacroix was sentenced to 11 months in a federal juvenile detention facility. He was only 16 years old at the time. Lacroix is also known for illegally hacking into Burger King's Twitter account – where he changed the restaurant's logo to that of McDonalds. Among the databases he illegally accessed were those of federal agencies. According to authorities, the damage caused by the hacker is estimated at around $1 million / €800,000.
However, he promised that when he gets out of prison, he will change his hat to whitehat and would like to help all the companies he defrauded. He could also work with the FBI to use his knowledge to help catch cybercriminals.
