When American Tanja Hollander realized she was constantly communicating with her friends on Facebook while in reality she didn’t know anyone, she decided to travel almost the whole world with only her camera as company in order to meet them all in person.
Thus, in 2011 she began to make her dream a reality, resulting in her visiting our country at the end of September and posting 3 videos on YouTube of what she did with her online friends.
«When I arrived in Athens, I was recognized by one of my friends, Peter, we listened to classic rock music and spoke broken English and Greek», she writes in the accompanying note of the first video about her arrival in the Greek capital.

In the second video that Hollander posted there are shots from her walk in the Acropolis. «While my friend Peter and I were walking around the Acropolis, we found a wonderful café and drank our cappuccino. Then we visited the new Acropolis Museum, climbed the hill and at noon we ate in the historic neighborhood of Plaka», she wrote and added: «It is hard to describe the size and the feelings that arise from the ancient Acropolis. It is not only that you see the Parthenon. It is all the ancient, the texture of the marble combined with the Mediterranean aromas that one feels as you slowly ascend toward the top of the hill».

In the third and final video from her visit to Athens she recorded her walk in Piraeus: “I took the Electric Train from Athens to the port of Piraeus, watched the sunset at the harbor, saw a football match on TV while sitting in the outdoor area of a bar, heard Pantelis Thalassino in the KKE building and my outing ended with dancing at a party in a submarine. In the morning, a new friend of mine, Maro, and I took a taxi and returned to Athens»,” she writes.
