The police, following an order from the Serres First Instance Prosecutor's Office, released the photo and details of the 47-year-old teacher from Serres who was arrested for molestation of minors. He is Panagiotis Koulaxidis, son of Christos and Marika, born in Bretten, Germany in 1967, as stated in his identity documents.
Seven underage students at a school in a village in Serres, aged 8 to 12, are alleged to have been the victims of the 47-year-old, who also served as deputy principal from 2012 to last April. The gruesome case was revealed last November, when the mother of one of the children found her son's profile on a social networking site and discovered that the 47-year-old was pressuring him to meet her, according to the family's lawyer, Olga Strikou. The investigation into the teacher's activities revealed that he had molested at least seven children inside and outside the school.
As noted in the announcement:
"The specific publication, lasting until 18:00 on 28.10.2014, according to the relevant prosecutorial order, is deemed necessary taking into account the degree of evidence of the defendant's guilt, the intensity of his deceit, the primary need to protect minors and society as a whole from such criminal acts, which violate the sexual freedom and purity of childhood, as well as the state's claim for the criminal punishment of similar offenses that may be revealed in connection with this case.".
More generally, the publication aims to protect society as a whole, minors, vulnerable or powerless population groups and to more easily realize the State's claim to punish the above offenses.
