Built to protect against would-be rapists
A device that fits in the palm of one hand and is equipped with a special sensor can automatically detect whether your drink contains narcotic substances, such as the so-called "date rape pill.".
The device analyzes a small sample of the drink and automatically informs the user through a light whether it is safe to drink their drink or not.
It can even be connected to a special application in order to be upgraded, as new, similar chemicals are constantly being discovered.
The pd.id device is very small and battery-operated.
"Although it is made with high technology to work effectively, it is very simple to use. The user simply dips the device into the drink and waits for a few seconds until the special LED lamp lights up, which reveals whether they can safely drink their drink or not," the manufacturer says.
As reported by MailOnline, in North America 1 in 4 women are victims of sexual assault at some point in their lives.
25% of these attacks are facilitated by the use of substances known as “Date Rape Drugs,” which are usually added to drinks.
