Former US intelligence contractor Edward Snowden has submitted a request to the Russian authorities to extend his asylum, according to statements from his lawyer.
The one-year asylum granted to him by Russia expires at the end of the month and the former agent is under time pressure to find a new place to stay.
Russia granted asylum to Mr. Snowden in 2013, when he was stranded at Moscow airport during his journey from Hong Kong to Cuba.
