AV-Comparatives has published the results of a new anti-virus, revealing what could be the best and most reliable security products for Windows 8.1.
A range of 20 different anti-virus, all fully compatible with Windows 8.1 and using default settings, were put to the test, including products such as avast! Free Antivirus 2014, AVG 2014, Bitdefender Antivirus 2014, NOD32 Antivirus 7.0, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2014 and Panda Cloud Antivirus 3.0 Free.
Security researchers analyzed the impact on system performance when performing common tasks, such as file copying, archiving, unarchiving, encoding and transcoding, installing and removing applications, launching programs, downloading files, and the operation of the Mark 8 computer.
The activity related to file downloading is more important, the two products that run very fast are from Trend Micro and the Emsisoft applications. Most anti-virus solutions can have a real impact on file copy speed, including AVG, ESET NOD32, F-Secure, McAfree and Microsoft's Security Essentials.
The Advanced+ rating of the security institute was accepted by Baidu, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, Avira, Fortinet, ESET, Lavasft, Qihoo, AVG, Avast and Sophos, while the Advanced award is offered to F-Secure and Panda.
Remember, however, that this new research does not represent the accuracy of the security products being tested, when it comes to virus removal and protecting your computer from malicious software, the test only concerns the impact on system performance when running on a device with Windows 8.1.
