In Greece, there has been no "production of child pornography" - A citizen addicted to child pornography filed a lawsuit against Mr. Sfakianakis, "because I don't cut off child pornography"
In total, the Cybercrime Prosecution has identified 920 cases of online trafficking of child pornography material in the last eleven years, according to data reported by its head, Manolis Sfakianakis, to members of the Public Order Committee of the Parliament during the discussion of the draft law of the Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights "Combating the sexual abuse and exploitation of children and child pornography.".
Mr. Sfakianakis pointed out that in Greece there has been no "production of child pornography material. When we say production we mean a sex industry with young children, that is, studios with people bringing children, abusing them and then selling these moments live," while noting that "We have, however, a few cases, which are parents or relatives with young children. These are approximately 15 to 17 cases, which we have handled in the last ten years.".
At the same time, addressing Mr. Charalambos Athanasiou, he requested certain changes to the proposed bill, including a provision that would provide for the "immediate" closure of any website that includes child pornography material.
"In article 18, where it says that, when the case is pending in the Court of Appeal, let's say, from the preliminary investigation. That is, the moment the Prosecution identifies it, the Prosecutor takes note and with a reasoned order its viewing is cut off," he said and added, "At this point, this is what I propose and as long as everyone agrees, I am a follower of the Italian model. That there should be a special mechanism and body, that there should be no child pornography websites in our country, just as there is currently a mechanism to cut off websites for illegal betting. The National Gaming Commission, with a special mechanism, blocks the electronic traces of websites with illegal betting. In exactly the same way, we can cut off websites that have child pornography. I put this to the House and you decide. I made my proposal.".
He even mentioned that a citizen addicted to child pornography filed a lawsuit against him "because I don't stop child pornography in the country and the person who is addicted then comes in and I arrest him"!
