He is only 5 years old, and yet, he managed to identify a major security hole in the Xbox Live network, trying to "hack" his dad's account, and received public thanks and gifts from Microsoft..
The reason is Kristoffer Von Hassel from San Diego who, in his attempt to bypass the service's password check, discovered that in the second confirmation check, all he had to do was press the space bar to enter the service, even if he didn't know the password.
Microsoft was informed and corrected its mistake by little Kristoffer's father, who happens to be a security technician, and then added the boy's name to the list of the service's officially recognized security researchers.
The company said: “We always listen to our customers and thank them for bringing safety issues to their attention.”
To thank the little boy for his important discovery, he sent him some video games and gave him a gift of $50 and a one-year subscription to the Xbox Live service.
