The UK's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UK) has opened to business, highlighting the government's ongoing effort to strengthen the nation's cyber defences.
The Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, Francis Maude, announced the launch of CERT -UK to the media at an event, promising that it would assist in public and private sector cyber defence efforts in a variety of ways.
As it states: “ CERT will take a leading role in coordinating the management of national cyber security incidents. One area in which it will play a particularly important role is in providing support to critical national business infrastructure. CERT-UK will provide an authoritative voice to these services and organisations that help the UK become more resilient and thrive in the internet age. They will also share information with companies to promote situational awareness and effectively respond to threats.”
