The Skype has announced the release of a new version of the popular VoIP app for Android, which allows users to make and receive free voice and video calls.
The updated version of the application brings significant improvements and bug fixes, which had been reported by users of the service.
The most important change and the main theme of the update is the "dramatic" reduction in battery power consumption, a feature that suddenly becomes one of Skype's most important advantages.
According to the developers, users can leave the app running in the background all day without having to worry about their battery life.
To achieve this feature, push notifications for group chat messages have been disabled by default. So if you frequently participate in group chats and want to continue receiving relevant updates, you can go to Settings-> Notifications and check the “Sync group messages” option.
You can download the updated version of Skype 4.7 for Android via the Google Play Store. The application is compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and later.
