A new spam message that is designed to lure unsuspecting users to various websites while simultaneously installing various programs on computers and filling them with viruses has recently been arriving at many e-mail addresses.
According to techit.gr, security researchers at Malwarebytes have discovered the new spam campaign. The emails come with the subject line “RE: Your Job Application” and inform users about the approval of a job application they supposedly submitted.
"Thank you for your recent job application, which has been approved after a relevant evaluation. We wish to proceed with immediate hiring, and provide you with paid training, regarding this specific position. If you are still seeking employment, please visit our website and complete some additional information, via the following link," the spam message states.
Those who click on the link and are redirected to the websites usually end up on websites that encourage them to install iLivid (toolbar), Ask Toolbar, and Torch Browser.
In some other cases, unsuspecting users are taken to websites that ask them to complete fake surveys in order to win a cash prize.
If you encounter such emails, delete them. If you have fallen victim to the scam, remove all applications you have installed and scan your computer for viruses as there is a high chance that it is infected.
