Gary Davis, one of three key suspects arrested in December 2013 for alleged involvement in the operation of Silk Road and its successor Silk Road 2, has been released on bail.
Silk Road evolved into one of the most popular illegal online "hangouts" for purchasing drugs and other illegal products and services.
According to TechCrunch, Davis, also known as “Libertas,” was released on bail on December 20, the same day he was arrested by Irish authorities.
FBI agents reportedly flew to Ireland to question the suspect about his alleged role as a middleman in the underground market, and to arrest him. Much to their dismay, however, he was eventually released. A court hearing in the case is scheduled for February 13.
The FBI is reportedly still searching for Silk Road's key players in Europe and the United States. The other two suspects arrested by authorities in December are Andrew Michael Jones and Peter Phillip Nash.
