Impressive maneuvering capabilities are provided by the self-driving vehicle technology developed by BMW, which the company demonstrated at CES 2014 in Las Vegas.
The specially modified 2-Series Coupe and 6-Series Gran Coupe are capable of moving quickly on a track, slaloming between cones, and drifting through corners. The equipment package that enables these capabilities includes 360-degree radar, ultrasonic sensors, and cameras, which together allow the vehicle to perceive its environment and adapt to it.
BMW isn't the only company to showcase such technology at CES 2014, with Audi showcasing its zFAS technology, Toyota showing off its own self-driving vehicles, and Bosch showcasing smartphone-based parking technology.
