26-year-old US University student Jackie Turner posted an ad on Craigslist, looking to rent to a family for the holidays, offering $8 per hour
The student posted a touching note saying she is looking for a loving family who will treat her like their own child. After years of abuse in a broken family, Jackie has not yet lost hope and decided to go public with her story so that her dream can be achieved.
"I'm looking to rent a mom and dad who can give me attention and make me feel like the light of their lives for just a day or two, because I really need it," Turner's ad reads.
The young student has experienced a traumatic childhood, as her parents abused her physically and emotionally from a very young age. At a young age, Turner turned to drugs, until she was arrested for theft and spent a year in prison. She was then transferred to an institution for troubled teens, which helped her get back on track. Turner started college and worked hard to achieve high grades and a spot on the school football team.
Dozens of families responded to the ad, as well as many other abuse victims who wanted to share their personal stories with Turner.
