Hisense aggressively slashed the price of its new RGB LED UR9 TV on launch day, making it more attractive to consumers. Initially, the UR9 was more expensive than top-of - the-line OLED TVs from LG and Samsung. This price makes it much more tempting.

When reviewing the UR9, the biggest issue was its price. At $3,500 for the 65-inch, both the LG G6 and Samsung S95H — top-of-the-line OLED TVs — were cheaper than the UR9, and OLED technology still outperforms RGB LED. Two days after publishing the review, Samsung announced the price of its own high-end R95H RGB LED TV, which was $300 cheaper than the Hisense.

This price change from Hisense is at least partially a response to Samsung's announcement.
Right now, both Hisense and Samsung are the only TV companies that have a 65-inch model in their top-of-the-line RGB lineup. LG offers the MRGB95 that starts at 75 inches, while the smaller TCL RM9L is 85 inches, and both are more expensive than the Samsung and Hisense — now significantly more.

The Hisense UR9 is a bright, colorful TV, now at a much more affordable price. Its main competitor is the TCL QM8L, which uses blue LED backlighting and SQD technology like the X11L instead of red, green, and blue LEDs. The TCL may have similar performance, but for someone who's committed to the new RGB LED technology, this price cut makes the UR9 an even better choice.
