Americans use more than one social media platform , with 35% of them getting their news from at least two services, causing the phenomenon of “news fragmentation” on social media.
the vast majority of American citizens (65%) who use social media for their news report only one of them as their source.
Unsurprisingly, Facebook dominates this list according to a Pew Research Center survey , published on Thursday.
The survey also reports that few respondents use networks such as LinkedIn, Pinterest and Google+ to stay informed. In fact, YouTube is second only to Facebook with a preference rate of 10% .
Overall, 1/3 of the total American population gets their news from Facebook, while only 8% get their news from Twitter. Google+ follows at 4%, and LinkedIn comes in last at 3%.
