2013 may have been a good year for you, but for the Internet, it probably wasn't a year with a... "positive" mood.

At least, that's what you can infer from the two most popular words online, according to the Global Language Monitor. What were they? "404" and "Fail.".

In 2009, it was by far the word “Obama,” as he was sworn in for the first time and became the first African-American president in history. In 2011, it was the word “occupy” as the Indignant movement swept across the world.

This year, the two words (the 404 that someone encounters when they fail to open a page and fail) were in the top two places, with the word "hashtag" in third place, @pontifex in fourth and "optic" in fifth. The most popular name was that of Pope Francis and the most popular phrase was "toxic politics" (no comments).

As for why 2013 is the year of "failure"? In America, they associate "fail" with the failure to launch the healthcare reform system, Obamacare.
