Google is bringing Personal Intelligence to all Google Gemini users in the US, after testing the feature in its paid plans.

Personal Intelligence allows Gemini AI to provide personalized responses based on information drawn from connected Google apps, such as Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube and more.
The feature is expanding to all users in the US via AI Mode in Search , the Gemini app , and Gemini in Chrome .

Gemini can draw information it knows about you from your Google accounts, emails you've sent, items you've purchased, and searches you've made. Google says it's designed to help you "find exactly what you need without having to give up all the context."
Gemini Personal Intelligence: How it can help users
Google provides various examples of how Gemini's Personal Intelligence can be useful in everyday life:
– Personalized shopping suggestions: Gemini can offer personalized suggestions based on past purchases. If you want to find a bag that matches your new shoes, Gemini can narrow your search to matching products.
– Technical assistance: Google states that users can get help troubleshooting a product, such as a refrigerator, without knowing the model, as the information can be gleaned from the purchase receipt.
– Planning: When you’re traveling and need to grab a bite to eat at the airport, Gemini can make suggestions based on the types of food you like. You can also get suggestions for places to eat and visit when you’re traveling, based on your interests and past preferences.

Users can choose to connect apps like Gmail and Google Photos to Gemini for personalization , or choose not to. The feature is disabled by default. Google says that Gemini and AI Mode are not trained directly on a Gmail inbox or Photos library, but prompts in Gemini and the model's responses can be used for training purposes.
Personal Intelligence is already available in the US for AI Mode in Search and is rolling out in the Gemini app and Gemini on Chrome for free users. Google says that connected experiences are designed for personal Google and not for Workspace business, enterprise, or education users.

Competition with Apple
Gemini's personalization features could directly compete with the Siri that Apple plans to bring later this year, as the integration of Gmail and other apps into Gemini mirrors some of the features Apple is introducing into Siri. Siri will also be able to read emails, messages, files, photos and more, learning information about the user to complete tasks and track files.

The new features of Siri have been delayed several times, and at this point, we may not have the updated version before the end of the year.
