People like him are not touched by the crisis. Mark Zuckerberg took out his… sponge cake for 2012, after being the highest-paid CEO in the world, earning $2.27 billion.
The Facebook co-founder not only beat out Apple's Tim Cook, but also many other CEOs. According to a GMI survey, Zuckerberg was the "boss" who made the most in the United States last year, earning more than $6 million a day. His base salary was $503,205, but most of his earnings came from his stocks.
Richard Kinder, CEO and chairman of energy company Kinder Morgan, had a salary of just $1 last year and received zero bonuses. But he made $1.1 billion from his stock. Half of the ten highest-paid CEOs are also founders of their companies, while the rest are appointed to the position.
In third place is Gregory Maffei, of Liberty Media, with earnings of $391 million, while Tim Cook is fifth with "only" $140 million in revenue.
