Apple’s new OLED and touchscreen MacBook Pros coming this fall will feature a Dynamic Islandsimilar to the one found on the iPhone, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Apple first introduced Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, as an oval, pill-shaped notch that displays information and notifications. However, the Dynamic Island on the MacBook Pro will be smaller than on current iPhones.

The new MacBook Pros will come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes and will otherwise look similar to the current models. Apple will also revamp the macOS user interface to make it more responsive and better support both touch and mouse or trackpad use. For example, when a user taps a button or control, a new menu will appear around their finger with more relevant options for touch commands.

Apple has been reluctant to include touchscreens in Macs for years. Steve Jobs said in 2010, shortly after the release of the first iPad, that "touchpads are not meant to be used vertically" and that a touchscreen on a Mac would be "ergonomically awful." However, Apple today markets the iPad as both a touch-enabled tablet and a device that can be used with a keyboard, similar to a computer.
Gurman had already mentioned in 2023 that Apple was considering creating a Mac with a touchscreen, and it seems that the realization of this idea is getting closer. However, the new Macs with a touchscreen are not expected to be introduced at the event planned by the company for March 4, but to be released towards the end of 2026.

Additionally, according to Gurman, Apple plans to incorporate a smaller Dynamic Island into the future iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Pro Max as well.
