Google Code In is a Google initiative to help secondary school students contribute to the development of free software. The program, aimed at students aged 13 to 17, begins in November and will run for more than seven weeks, until early January.
Through the fourth program, students will have the opportunity to participate in the production of open source code, documentation, educational materials, testing and user experience research. So far, a total of 1,200 students from 71 countries have participated in the program.
“Open source projects are about more than just writing code. This competition gives students the opportunity to contribute to open source projects in many ways. Every year, open source software becomes more important to everyone around the world. For governments, healthcare, gaming, large technology companies, and all other sectors,” explains Google.
