One of the largest hosting companies in the world, LeaseWeb, has been hacked . The hacking group “KDMS Team” from Palestine managed to compromise the website, altering its content.
The attackers posted the following message:
"Hello LeaseWeb. Who Are You? Who is but the form following the function of what and what are you is a hosting company with no security KDMS Team : Well,, We Can See That 😛
Do you know what that means? We own all of your hosted sites. Index on your site is the proof"
LeaseWeb confirmed the breach via Twitter:
“The website will be restored within a few hours. Our customer data has not been compromised. We are continuing to investigate the case.”
However, hackers claim they managed to gain access to the servers as well as sensitive customer data, despite LeaseWeb's statements.
More information about the attack was also published on the company's blog:
“The DNS attack was quickly detected and immediately addressed by LEASEWEB’s security department. Our investigation shows that no other domain, other than leaseweb.com, has been affected. Internal systems were not compromised. The manner in which the breach occurred has not been fully determined.”
