Microsoft is now working on a fix for a brief white screen flash that appears when you open File Explorer.

You can't make this up. Microsoft released an update for Windows 11 yesterday that was supposed to make the dark theme more consistent, with dialogs in File Explorer finally getting a dark theme for actions like copying, moving, or deleting files and folders. However, users are also faced with a huge white flash every time they open File Explorer.

“After installing KB5070311, you may experience issues when opening File Explorer in dark theme,” Microsoft admits in the known issues section of the new Windows 11 update. “The window may briefly display a blank white screen before loading files and folders.”
The white flash can be quite annoying if you're working in the dark with the dark theme enabled, and Microsoft says it's currently working on a fix for the issue. If you don't want to wait for an official fix, you can also use a Windhawk to reset File Explorer's dark theme back to normal.

It's strange that Microsoft didn't catch this very obvious bug during testing, especially since the company has committed to a more "consistent dark theme experience" overall in Windows 11. The Run dialog in Windows 11 will also soon get a dark theme, along with improvements to progress bars and chart views, as well as confirmation and error dialogs.
