Honda WN7: First look at the new electric motorcycle

During EICMA 2025, Honda officially unveiled its first full-size electric motorcycle, the Honda WN7. This launch marks a significant moment for the electric motorcycle space, as the WN7 is not just a conventional motorcycle or a mediocre scooter, but a genuine full-size motorcycle designed primarily for everyday commuting.

Honda's development team adopted a design philosophy called "Be the wind," aiming for a quiet and immersive driving experiencethat allows riders to hear the world around them while enjoying the satisfying torque of an electric vehicle.

What does the Honda WN7 electric motorcycle look like?

Visually, the WN7 features a sharp silhouette and a horizontal LED light bar at the front, which Honda intends to make the signature design element of its electric vehicle range. The motorcycle features a new color palette, exclusive to Honda EVs, with a black body and gold mechanical components.

One notable mechanical feature is the frameless design, where Honda uses the tough aluminum battery case as the central structural element, attaching the front handlebar and rear axle directly to it. This design reduces weight and improves handling by centralizing mass, a trend also seen in other electric motorcycle such as the LiveWire.

Drive system

The drivetrain features a new liquid-cooled motor with an integrated inverter, which transfers power to the rear wheel through a newly designed gearbox. It is designed to be quiet, clean and high-torque, making it suitable for everyday commuting.

The WN7 is equipped with a 9.3 kWh fixed battery that supports fast charging CCS2 (20% to 80% in 30 minutes) and Type 2 charging, with a claimed range of 140 km per charge according to WMTC standards. It also features regenerative braking with adjustable deceleration levels and a slow-speed walk mode for parking assistance.

Prices and exact market release dates have not yet been announced, but Honda has hinted that the WN7 will be produced in Japan and sold in regions where electrification is "advancing."
