Google has introduced a new security feature in Android 15, inspired by the increase in smartphone in London.
The Anti-Theft Lock uses a combination of sensors and artificial intelligence (AI) to recognize when a smartphone has been taken away from its owner. When this happens, Android 15 automatically locks the screen, preventing thieves from gaining access to the device.

The new feature was developed partly in response to a rise in thefts in London, where pickpockets are using bikes or electric scooters to steal smartphones. According to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner and the Mayor of London, tech companies such as Google need to do more to combat phone theft in the capital.
With Android 15's new security feature, thieves won't be able to access a victim's personal data, such as banking apps and contacts, unless they use the correct password or biometrics. Google claims its AI can detect "common theft-related movements," such as a sudden jolt that suggests the phone has been snatched.

Additionally, the new feature includes the Remote Lock, which allows users to remotely lock their device using their phone number in case of theft or loss, making it easier to protect their personal data.
