Japanese tech giant Casio suffered a cyberattack following unauthorized access to its networks on October 5, resulting in a system outage that affected some of services .

The revelation comes from Casio Computer, the parent company of the Casio brand, widely known for its watches, calculators, musical instruments, cameras and other electronics.
“Casio Computer Co., Ltd. confirmed on October 5th of this year that its network had been compromised in an unauthorized manner,” a statement posted on Casio’s website earlier said.
The company says additional details cannot be released to the public while investigations continue, noting that it is working with an outside expert to determine whether personal data or other confidential information.
While Casio says the cyberattack caused an outage of its service, it has not stated specifically what was affected. The company says it has reported the incident to the relevant data protection authorities and measures to restrict access to external parties were immediately implemented.

Meanwhile, no ransomware group has yet claimed responsibility for the cyberattack on Casio.
About a year ago, Casio revealed another cyberattack where hackers managed to gain access to the servers of its ClassPad educational platform.
As a result of this breach, customer data from 149 countries, including names, emails, countries of residence, service usage details, purchase information, license codes, and order details.
The latest cybersecurity incident comes at a difficult time for Casio, as it recently informed shareholders that the company is set to suffer extraordinary losses of nearly $50 million due to a large-scale staff restructuring.
