In order for PC users to enjoy everything Windows 11 has to offer, they must first enter an email address that is associated with a Microsoft. If you don't have one, you will be prompted to create one before you can start setting up your experience.

A commonly used trick to bypass this block is a small but clever step. By entering a random email and password, which do not exist and cause the login to fail, you end up directly creating a local account and thus you can avoid creating an official Microsoft account in Windows 11.
Many users prefer this method, as a local account promises more control over their own data and more privacy. However, without a Microsoft account, you also lose some useful features, such as account backups or special features for apps like Copilot.
However, this common method no longer seems to work, as Microsoft has apparently fixed this bug. Instead of skipping the account login, you are led into a kind of continuous loop that doesn't end until you enter the correct email address.

Previously, it was possible to disconnect from the Internet in Task Manager before creating an account. Microsoft has removed that solution since then. As a result, many people who previously used this method are now forced to enter a working email address and Microsoft account password or use other methods.
There is another method to bypass account lockout. You just need to enter OOBE\BYPASSNRO at the command prompt during the Windows 11 installation process, which allows you to skip connecting to the Internet and therefore, signing in to a Microsoft account.
However, it is uncertain how long this option will remain available. It appears that Microsoft aims to tie the use of Windows 11 to a Microsoft account. Combined with the increased calls for Windows users to ultimately move to Windows 11, this seems to be a controversial combination.
