Thousands of drivers are being urged to return Toyota vehicles after a potentially fatal defect was discovered.
Up to 9000 Toyota Yaris and Yaris Hybrid are being recalled by the manufacturer across Australia.

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts announced the recall for both gasoline and hybrid models manufactured between 2020 and 2023.
Exposing the front lower suspension arm to road snow melting agents can cause cracks and, by extension, its gradual corrosion.
"This could cause the suspension to collapse and become detached from the vehicle," Toyota Australia said in announcement .
"As a result, the defect in a Toyota vehicle may cause an unexpected loss of directional control."
The vehicles included in the recall – 8,815 in total – were manufactured between 2020 and 2023. These include the models , both petrol and hybrid versions.
Toyota will contact owners of affected vehicles in writing and invite them to make an appointment to have the front lower suspension arm replaced, free of charge.
