China is introducing regulations for genetic artificial intelligence (AI), giving businesses the ability to create advanced technological capabilities.

On Tuesday, the Chinese government published proposed regulations aimed at controlling the production of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) products like ChatGPT.
In a monumental step forward, the Cyberspace Administration of China has published the first draft regulations targeting the rapidly developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The development comes as major tech companies begin to deploy cutting-edge ChatGPT products in China.
Creative artificial intelligence (AI) is based on algorithms that are trained and fed with huge amounts of data, allowing them to create content such as images or texts. OpenAI, a US-based company, has introduced ChatGPT – an AI system capable of quickly and effectively answering user queries – which has become incredibly popular among users worldwide.
In recent weeks, Chinese tech giants have been competing fiercely to introduce their own competing products. On Tuesday, Alibaba unveiled Tongyi Qianwen — a generative AI product that it plans to integrate into various services. Just a month ago, Baidu similarly unveiled Ernie Bot as an alternative for testing purposes.
The CAC's proposed regulations stipulate that AI services must adhere to certain rules, including the type of content they can produce. This content must adhere to the core values of socialism and cannot undermine state power, as outlined in the draft measures.
Companies will have to ensure that their data used to train artificial intelligence (AI) models is free from any bias based on race, gender or ethnicity . In addition, the regulator stressed that this information must be accurate and cannot produce false facts.

Experts previously told CNBC that Chinese regulators are expected to closely monitor the development of generative AI, given that it can create content that could be considered politically controversial .
The CAC regulations reflect the concern and provide a structure for how Chinese companies should manage technological advancements. The rules, which are set to come into effect soon this year, will be enforced in conjunction with other Chinese laws on data security and algorithm production.
Although China is focusing on the advancement of creative artificial intelligence, Italy recently banned ChatGPT due to privacy concerns.
