NASA has released a stunning image of Uranus taken by the James Webb Space Telescope , showing off its bright features and 11 of the 13 rings discovered. This remarkable photo is sure to impress! On February 6 , 2023, an extremely detailed image of the planet was captured in a 12-minute exposure using two filters.

In December 2021, the James Webb Space Telescope was launched into space as a joint effort of NASA and two other space agencies, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. The Camera , or NIRCam, gives the telescope remarkable visibility and allows for the exploration of its most popular discoveries. In addition, this incredible piece of equipment has awesome capabilities since it is even able to observe in the ultraviolet spectrum! Before the James Webb Space Telescope, only two other machines managed to capture Uranus in their field of view: Voyager 2 (in 1986) and the Keck Observatory with its advanced adaptive optics systems.
What makes Uranus stand out from the crowd is its tilt, or as NASA calls it, a 90-degree tilt relative to the plane of its orbit. As a result, the planet experiences extreme weather events such as years of prolonged sunshine followed by extended periods of darkness. The celestial body takes 84 Earth years to complete one orbit around the Sun.

This image shows the planet, where it is currently spring. When Voyager 2 explored Uranus in 1986, it was summer at the south pole – which is now on the opposite side of the planet.
According to NASA, Webb's NIRCam captured an infrared image with two filters, resulting in the planet taking on a striking blue hue.
Voyager 2's depiction of Uranus was simply a "featureless blue-green ball," according to NASA, but Webb's image depicts the planet's vibrant nature.
On the right side of the planet there is a bright area at the pole facing the Sun. At the border of the polar region is a bright cloud, accompanied by one on the far left side of this world. According to NASA, these clouds are associated with storm systems.

The planet has thirteen impressive rings, and with the help of images from the Webb telescope, eleven of them were identified – some of which are so bright that they appear to merge into one magnificent ring. The telescope is equipped to observe and record a total of 27 moons orbiting Uranus.
