YouTube Music now tells you who composed your favorite songs!

Platforms like Spotify and Tidal provide detailed song titles for each track so listeners can easily identify who is behind the composition of their favorite songs – making a difference when it comes to artist recognition! For years, YouTube Music users have been asking for artists to be credited on the streaming service. With over 80 million paying subscribers and more expected to join due to the shift to podcasting, this feature has finally arrived! One user reported seeing it appear in their app after so many requests on the support forum.

Reddit user u/matteventu found some screenshots of the feature. It’s accessible via the three-dot button next to each track, and sits right between Go to artist and Share. Listeners can see all the relevant data by tapping View song credits , including the names of the performers, producers, writers, and even the source of the music’s metadata. While the list of information is nowhere near what we see on Tidal, it’s certainly a start for the company.
According to 9to5Google, song credits could be enabled in the future via a server, which would prevent the need to update the app. This may not seem important to the average music listener, but for musicians it is essential, as they now receive recognition for their content published on YouTube Music.
