Arlo makes some of the highest-rated home security cameras on the market, and its latest releases outperform its rivals in several key categories. Unfortunately, the company’s current strategy for its legacy models may not be well-received by loyal users. Arlo recently informed its customers that in a few months, two of its older camera systems will no longer be supported — even though those cameras aren’t old!
Popular security cameras, the Arlo Gen 3 (VMC3030) and the first-generation Arlo Pro (VMC4030), in a few months will be reaching the end of support – so if you’re still using one of them, now’s your chance to start looking for a quality replacement!

If you have either of these two cameras, then access to 7-day cloud storage and email alerts will no longer be available for Arlo Pro or Gen 3. Additionally, if you are currently an Arlo Secure subscriber, your recorded videos can be stored online, but without the newer features that come with it. Don't worry, though, as features like live-stream video and motion alerts will still work.
Home security systems are typically designed to last a long time, and these two Arlo cameras are certainly not near the end of their lifespans: the Arlo Gen 3 and Arlo Pro are only 8 and 6 years old, respectively. Despite this longevity, Arlo is pushing customers to upgrade their security systems to take advantage of its newer models.

To make matters worse, the End of Life (PDF) is set to retire even more products on January 1, 2024. The products affected are the Arlo Baby, Pro 2 Q, Q+, Lights, and Audio Doorbell – all of which will no longer be supported after that date.
