Final Fantasy XIV will resume its free trials starting February 22nd (today), more than two months after Square Enix stopped offering them to reduce player load following the incredibly popular Endwalker expansion. The news comes from the latest FFXIV Letter from the Producer Livestream from director and producer Naoki Yoshida that took place over the weekend, via NME.

Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial option for new players, allowing them to play the entire base release of A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward expansion for as long as they want.

Endwalker it first launched in December. The trial doesn't actually include access to the latest expansion. However, the game's servers couldn't handle the combination of people rushing to play the new content and a new wave of new players who wanted the free trial. Square Enix was forced to temporarily stop selling the game, and of course, halt the free trial, in an effort to make sure existing players could get in. And while sales of the game resumed in January, the free trial has been unavailable to this day.
