Tesla is expanding its lawsuit against Rivian, accusing it of stealing trade secrets related to battery technology.
Tesla, which has already sued Rivian and former employees hired by the electric truck startup, is expanding its lawsuit against the company.

Rivian is a company that has made a strong entry into the electric vehicle industry. Its success may be due in part to following in Tesla's footsteps and making similar moves.
For example, Tesla developed its own network of fast charging stations, the Supercharger.
Rivian recently announced its plans to develop its own fast-charging network, which will allow its vehicle owners to rely less on third-party public stations.
In addition, Tesla chose to develop its own corporate network of stores and service centers, as well as to use “mobile technicians.”.
Earlier this year, Rivian announced almost the same model.

At the time Tesla filed the lawsuit, it was unclear exactly what trade secrets Rivian allegedly stole. However, the automaker claimed that its former employees were in possession of “documents containing highly sensitive trade secrets and confidential engineering data” when they went to work at Rivian.
Tesla has now expanded its lawsuit and provides more specific details about the theft of trade secrets. The company now says Rivian is “stealing key technology for next-generation batteries.”
Tesla has decided to expand its lawsuit at a time when Rivian is preparing the first deliveries of its R1T electric pickup truck.
