Apple fired Ashley Gjovik on Thursday for violating the company's policy regarding the disclosure of intellectual property, but failed to clarify which confidential information was leaked. The senior engineering program director has published concerns over the past months about unresolved issues in the workplace, including sexism and discrimination.

Gjovik earlier in the day received an email from Apple's employee relations team saying that an investigation into a "sensitive intellectual property matter" was underway. The representative recommended they speak within an hour, but Gjovik requested that the provisions of the law be followed and all communications be in writing, as the correspondence would be included in an active National Labor Relations Board complaint, according to emails viewed by AppleInsider.
Gjovik responded by reiterating its willingness to participate in the investigation and requested the opportunity to address the claims, but its representative said that the team will proceed without its contribution because “it chose not to participate in the discussion”. Subsequently, it was denied access to Apple's systems.
An email sent a few hours later provided information about her dismissal and repeated the vague claim that she leaked “confidential information related to the product». Apple does not detail the nature of the leak in her termination notice and did not explain details about the situation in Gjovik despite requests to do so.

Gjovik publishes tweets about various topics related to work for months and often includes posted emails in its posts. Harassment, a hostile work environment, retaliation, bullying and sexism are among the concerns it expressed to the relevant authorities at Apple, although the calls apparently fell into the void.
