The Tesla- inspired X Shore Eelex 8000 electric boat is making its U.S. debut , according to an announcement from Swedish company X Shore.

It was first released in 2019 in Europe and is an electric boat designed for day trips on the water.
Konrad Bergstrom, the Swedish millionaire behind X Shore, says he was inspired by Tesla to create the company's line of electric boats.

The company adopted a similar strategy to Tesla, initially focusing on high-quality products and starting with low-volume production.
Bergstrom's goal wasn't just to create an electric boat. He wanted it to be built in a way that would be better than boats that use other fuels.
And now the Swedish X Shore is bringing the X Shore Eelex 8000 to the US, offering Americans the opportunity to travel by sea with electric boats.

The X Shore Eelex 8000 weighs 2,600 kilograms (5,730 pounds) and is 8 meters (26.2 feet) long.
The boat has a 225 kW (300 hp) engine and reaches 35 knots (40 mph or 64 km/h).
It also has a 120 kWh battery, which can be charged with a standard charger in six hours, while there is also the option of fast charging (in one hour).
As for the rest of the features, the electric boat has a 24″ Garmin touchscreen display that is waterproof and anti-glare. The display is combined with a Garmin watch that acts as a kill-switch. The system also includes Garmin features such as ActiveCaptain, auto pilot features, as well as high-quality mapping that allows for route planning.
According to the company, the X Shore Eelex 8000 electric boat also features smart sensors that provide immediate notification of potential serious issues. The alerts are sent to the owner’s mobile phone (or other similar device), so that they are informed of issues that arise when they are away from the boat. The boat has its own wireless network for safety and security systems.
The Eelex 8000 is available now at XShore.com with prices starting at $329,000. The company expects to ship 20-30 boats to the US, and each will be built in Sweden according to customer wishes.
Starting in 2022, X Shore plans to shift its supply chain to the US.
