Twitter will soon support voice messages on both its iOS and Android apps . This means you 'll be able to send audio messages to your contacts. The feature is quite similar to the voice tweets the company launched a few months ago.
The feature has already been launched in India. The company released a short video to mark the launch of voice messages in the country.
See below how you will be able to send voice messages on the Twitter app, by going to Twitter DM and following the steps below:
- Open Twitter DM by tapping the “Folder” icon on the bottom right side of the screen.
- Tap on a contact or start a new conversation.
- In the conversation, you will see a “voice icon”.
- Tap on it to start recording the audio message and hold it until the recording is complete.
- Release the button to stop recording and send the voice Twitter DM.
Twitter voice messages can be up to 140 seconds long. On iOS, you can also send the message to other contacts by holding down the “voice icon” and swiping it up. In general, voice messages on Twitter will work similarly to voice messages on other apps, such as WhatsApp and Instagram.
For now, users in India are able to use the new feature. The company is rolling out the feature in stages and it will be available on both Android and iOS devices. Soon, all users will be able to use voice messages, provided they have updated the app.
In June 2020, Twitter announced voice tweets, where a user could make a tweet by recording it rather than typing it. Voice DM is an extension of this feature and will essentially allow you to send voice tweets directly to your contacts.
