Xiaomi MIUI: Ads within the device's operating system

Many of Xiaomi's smartphones use MIUI, a modified version of Android. While MIUI is based on the Android operating system, there are various additional features such as themes, with which the user can change the interface of their device, bringing it to their liking.

However, as pointed out by users themselves on the forum , for some time now there have been ads installed in the operating system, which appear in various places. One of them is the File manager, in which ads have been appearing at the top of the interface for some time. But now it seems that ads are also appearing in the device settings.

The news was posted on Reddit by a user, along with a photo to prove it. Many people expressed their displeasure in the comments, calling Xiaomi's move "cheap."

If you own a Xiaomi phone, you may also encounter ads in the menu. However, you can disable some of them by following this path: Settings -> Additional settings -> Privacy -> Ad services. Disabling the “Personalized ad recommendations” setting will stop some (not all) of the ads from appearing.

MIUI users have also taken to Twitter to express their displeasure over the ads. Xiaomi India responded to one of these tweets by saying that they will take their customers' feedback into consideration. However, they claimed that the way the ads have been implemented is quite "user friendly", and does not affect users' actions in any way.

Finally, Xiaomi with MIUI is not the only company that maintains this practice, as Amazon in some cases sells the devices at a discount if the user accepts that advertisements will be displayed.
