44% of US users aged 18-29 have deleted the Facebook App

FacebookFacebook lost the ground from under its feet after it was confirmed that the data of 87 million of its users was leaked in the Cambridge Analytica.

Since then, Facebook has come under constant scrutiny from the general public and law enforcement. A recent study conducted by the Pew showed that 44 percent of American users between the ages of 18 and 29 have deleted the app from their smartphones in the past year.

Other statistics from the study revealed that 26% of the platform's users aged 18 and over had deleted the app.

The study was conducted in the United States between May 29 and June 11 after the shock revelation of the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

This data shows that the social network has lost a large number of users due to the scandal and is a matter of concern for the platform, mainly due to the fact that the younger generation is rejecting the social networking site.

In the survey, users were also asked if they had changed their privacy settings on the Facebook app in the past 12 months, to which 64% of users aged between 18 and 29 said yes. The data also showed that just 12% of users aged over 65 had deleted Facebook.

The data set suggests that age is a factor in how users react to privacy and are concerned about data leakage.

The Cambridge Analytica scandal led to the conclusion that one in ten Facebook users downloaded their personal data, which was made available to the tech giant. What makes the situation more worrying for Facebook is the fact that of all the users who downloaded their personal data, 37% decided to delete the Facebook app from their smartphone.

Despite statistics revealing that more and more users are leaving the “data hogging” app, Facebook is climbing its way up in terms of stock prices and it seems like all of that matters.
