Why use Page jumping?

Page jumping is a great way to connect your visitors from one part of your content to another.

For example, let's say you have a list of names (let's say titles) at the top of the page. You can link each title to a different piece of content (new paragraph) in the post, so that your visitors can automatically jump to the title (chapter) they're interested in.

To create Page jumping on a page we need the target text and the link.

In order to create the target text, you will need to use the WordPress text editor, for example. To do this, select the tab labeled “Text”, or “HTML” from the top right side of the text editing area. What is page jumping and how can I use it?

The text of the unique attribute will look like the following:

Target text.

The above text, which is referred to as id=”unique-feature”, acts as a label or tag that points to your target text.

Note: Make sure you don't use spaces in your IDs, as this can cause problems with older browsers. Also, make sure to use a unique ID for each goal you create.

One way to navigate to your target is to select some text, then use the insert-edit link. In the URL field, enter the # symbol, followed by the target ID name, as follows:

 Click!

You can repeat this process to create additional page jumping links. Just make sure to use a unique ID for each target/link pair.

When creating the post or page, use your text editor to add this at the top, middle, or bottom as HTML:

This creates an invisible target at the top, middle, or bottom of your post or page. The terms top, middle, and bottom are the hidden target identifiers that will lead the links to the ones we mentioned before.

Once you have created a goal, you can add it to the URL to link to that goal.

Let's say you've created a goal on a page with this URL:

https://www.secnews.gr/example

All you have to do is add the # symbol followed by the target ID to the end of the URL like this:

https://www.secnews.gr/example/#unique-identifier

Now that you have the URL for the goal, you can use it to link to any other page or post on your site with that goal:
