Secusmart, an encryption software company owned by BlackBerry, announced the SecuTABLET in partnership with IBM and Samsung at CeBIT 2015 (March 16-20).
Secusmart has closely collaborated with BlackBerry and Samsung to improve Android adoption with additional tools for secure mobile device management. The latest Samsung smartphone, the Galaxy S6, comes pre-loaded with software developed in partnership with BlackBerry and is aimed at professional users.
Thus Secusmart, of BlackBerry, announced the SecuTABLET, a variant of the Galaxy Tab 10.5 S that features various security enhancements. The tablet is aimed at businesses and governments that have special security requirements.
Currently, the SecuTABLET is undergoing certification by the German Federal Office for Information Security for official use in the country. The tablet also features an application encryption level for critical apps, using a solution developed by IBM.
The hardware, however, is no different from that used in the regular Galaxy Tab 10.5 S. The SecuTABLET, however, costs almost four times the price of the former, due to the added security and support of the Secusmart contract.
The price of the new product has not been disclosed, nor when it will be available to the general public.
