The website Ragebooter.net is one of many sites that accepts requests to carry out DDoS attacks, reports journalist Brian Krebs from KrebsonSecurity. The website, which accepts payments with PayPal, uses DNS reflection attacks.
Krebs, after investigating, discovered that the site's administrator was Justin Poland from Memphis, Tennessee. The journalist managed to interview him, finding Poland in no mood to apologize.
“Given that it is a public service that makes public connections to other public servers, this is not illegal,” Poland said. He continued:
“I also work for the FBI, every Tuesday at 1:00 PM Memphis time. They allow me to continue with this business. The FBI uses the website to record the IPS of online users.”
