A 25-year-old Bronx woman hit her 17-year-old boyfriend with her car and then walked away like a lady, all because he broke her iPhone. Jasmine Diaz is in custody after Frankie Hernandez's family found his lifeless body on Morris Avenue early Wednesday morning.
“I ran into the street but it was too late,” said the victim’s mother, Iris Hernandez. “His head was crushed, he wasn’t moving, there was blood everywhere.” After an argument and drinking, according to a police spokesman, Diaz hit Hernandez with her SUV and drove away.
The ambulance crew that arrived at the scene found the boy unconscious with serious injuries. The young man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His family said Diaz and Hernandez had been dating for a year but their relationship had had its ups and downs. Diaz was Hernandez's babysitter when he was young.
“They grew up together, he didn’t want to leave her. She was crazy, she liked to hit him and take advantage of him,” the 17-year-old’s mother added. According to Hernandez’s family, Diaz went out of control because Hernandez accidentally dropped her iPhone, breaking it. “She was yelling at him about the phone,” Ms. Hernandez said, “and he was saying it was an accident. She didn’t care, she was hysterical.”.
