The Panama Papers refer to more than 11 million legal and financial records of the global power elite originating from the Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca.

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), a German newspaper and other groups of journalists spent more than a year reviewing these documents and earlier this month published documents exposing the tax havens of 140 politicians and public figures including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Icelandic government officials and the beleaguered soccer organization FIFA.
Now the ICIJ has announced that it is preparing a second batch of documents involving hundreds of thousands of offshore accounts, as part of the ongoing Panama Papers investigation.
This second part of the documents will be released on May 9 with basic corporate information for over 200,000 offshore companies available in a publicly searchable database.
While the ICIJ says the second part will not include a “data dump” of the original documents or any large-scale release of personal data, it did say that the next phase will likely be the biggest leak ever of secretive offshore companies and the people behind them!
